Possible Confusion
1918
36 years old. On September 12, 1918, a William Heidel registered for World War 1 when he was living in Morgan, TN. At this time, he was a self-employed farmer. Louise Heidel of Wareburg (?) TN was listed as his nearest relative. Listed his birthday as March 31. 1882. He listed himself as 68 inches tall, stout build, and had dark hair with brown eyes. It almost appears as if someone else signed the card for him.
WW1 Registration Card
1920
38 years old. This census is more confident that this is the same William. The census is spelling the last name as "Hidle" but this is likely just the census taker's assumed spelling. The home was in Crystal Springs East, Copiah County, MS, on Gatesville Road and listed as a farm. William was the head of the household and married to "Ella Hidle". He listed his father's and mother's birthplaces as Mississippi (so William in 1900 and 1918 records may not be correct). He rented the home. He was able to read and write English. He was listed as a farmer with his own account, at a truck farm. Other members of house listed below.
