Historical County Notes: John Albert Kresl was born on October 4, 1880 in Bohemia to unknown father and Kathryn (Masek) Kresl who was born in Bohemia. He did not attend school. John was a farmer at the time of his death on January 12, 1937 in Callaway County, MO. John died at the age of 56 yrs 3 months and 7 days and was married to Eva Kresl. John's mother Kathryn McDonald of Fulton, MO was the informant, the undertaker was Leo G. Wallace and burial was on January 13, 1937 at the Portland Cemetery, Portland, Callaway County, MO.
Pam Notes: Bohemia became the Czech Republic in 1993; note that it also lists Austria so likely in southern portion of Bohemia. His family is reported to have left there through the Bremen, Germany, port in 1883. Then we see him arrive in Baltimore MD in October 1883. The next census indicates that he arrived in Missouri in 1886. His father was Franz Kresl, who changed it to "Frank" Kresl. It looks like his father died shortly after getting to the US, in 1885, then his mom, Katie, moved to Missouri.
