Floyd Y. Kresl
Ellis Allen Kresl
Kathryn (Kresl) McDonald
Married to:
John Albert Kresl
Pam Notes: Evaline - she went by Eva - Hook is your great-great-grandmother. She is the mom of my and Kevin's paternal grandmother, Kathyrn McDonald. She was the daughter of Joseph Hook (1846-1926) and Hester Anna Blankenship Hook (1849-1922). Eva was born in either April 1899 (3 sources) or November 27, 1890 (2 sources) in Steedman, MO.
Eva married John Albert Kresl on November 28, 1906, (so, she was either 16 or 17 years old) - they are listed as being married in Fulton, MO. Their children were: Bernice M. (Kresl) Clardy; Floyd Y. Kresl; Ellis Allen - who lived with our grandmother and grandfather at the house in Mokane for most of his later life as he had developmental challenges; and Grandma Kathryn. Her marriage certificate is below..... there is an interesting tidbit on this image that is one of the many curiosities I came across.... wondering if you guys catch it and, if you do, your thoughts on it.
Eva resided in different areas around Callaway County in her life when she was young and before she died, but most of her adult life appears to have been in Auxvasse (1910, 1930, 1940 censuses). I am going to attach the 1910 census page for her - she is line 72. Notice that the names of the children do not match other records.... probably just a mistake.... but not sure. Also, notice the country that her husband's, John Kresl's, parents came from - it is noted as some form of "Bohemia". Later census reports will list it as Austria. There seems to be a number of "Bohemians" on that street in 1910.
Eva died on May 11, 1963, in "Cote Sans Dessein, Callaway County, MO", after a 12-year stay at a nursing home there. Burial was at the Portland Cemetery, in Portland, MO on May 14, 1963, and Browning Funeral Home of Fulton, MO was the funeral director. Uploading her death certificate.
Buried: Portland Cemetery, Portland, MO
