Oblate Employees

Co-Workers

Oblate Service Corporation (OSC) was incorporated at the time of the inauguration of the United States Province of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate.  OSC provides the corporate and legal structures and employment policies pertaining to the lay employees who are assigned to various Oblate ministries and institutions in the U.S. Province.  The OSC is managed by a Board of Directors and the elected officers, who are Missionary Oblates.  The Board is assisted by key personnel as needed.

One goal of the OSC is to assist lay employees in the Oblate Service Corporation to understand that, through his/her employment at the respective Oblate ministry site, he/she shares in the mission of the Missionary Oblates to serve the poor both in the United States and around the world.  The OSC also invites lay employees to view their respective work and assignments as ministerial in nature and part of an important enterprise which makes a positive difference for others who are in need, the poor and abandoned in the world.

Primarily though regional and/or local ministry sites, lay employees benefit periodically from various information sessions and days of enrichment that are offered and which emphasize such topics as: (a) the life and vision of St. Eugene de Mazenod, the founder of the Missionary Oblates; (b) the history of the Missionary Oblates in the United States and the world.; (c) the Oblate charism and spirituality; and (d) the various Oblate works and ministries here in the United States and throughout the world. These sessions allow lay employees to share in the vision of Saint Eugene, the larger Oblate congregation, and the missionary spirit of the Oblates and the Roman Catholic Church.  Various resources, methodologies, and “experts” from the Oblate world can serve as resources for these enrichment sessions.  However, since lay employees are of different denominations and faith traditions, enrichment sessions are not to be viewed as proselytization and are to respect other faith traditions and practices.

The Human Resources personnel of the OSC have been delegated to assist the leaders and directors of ministry sites, as well as the provincial administration, to arrange and coordinate various offerings for lay employees at both local and regional sites.
