To double-check all mistakes before our deadlines, the staff participates in peer editing days. Spreads are printed out, then analyzed by a staff member who did not make the page. They then pass it on to another staff member for final corrections. I receive the corrections for the final overview, then we go to submit the spread. This helps us to visualize our mistakes and learn from them so that our next pages have less mistakes.
Being appointed editor-in-chief of the Flashback has proved to be both a challenge and a blessing. In this role and other leadership positions outside of journalism, I have learned the importance of making sure everyone has a voice and a role, as every member is essential to creating a book that truly encompasses Oxford High School's culture and story. The relationships I have developed with my staff are some that I intend to keep and continue building even after our yearbook is complete.

To manage a fifteen person staff, I make sure that every direction I give out is clear. To do this, I create a weekly schedule that has everyone's assignments and jobs. At the end of the week, we revisit the schedule to make sure all tasks are complete. I also make an effort to individually work with each member of the staff on their spread, guiding them through any questions or concerns.

I send out reminders of events that are covered in class. This is done so that everyone is at their respective location at the right time and that everything runs smoothly.
I believe that one of the key factors to creating a successful yearbook is having a staff that is close. Throughout the year, our class has "Fun Fridays", where we celebrate deadlines turned in with loaded teas or sweet treats. This incentive program allows for the staff to be recognized for their hard work, in turn pushing them to work harder.
