I will model and demonstrate what I want the students to learn by doing an I Do, We Do, You Do. Prior to the worksheet, I will draw examples on the board. This way, they are prepared for the post-assessment or “exit tickets.”
I will stimulate discussion by the Turn and Talk at the beginning of the lesson. This way, students can share what they know, or what they may not know.
I will incorporate technology by using two YouTube videos projected onto the SmartBoard by my computer. These are engaging videos, and the students do not have to bother figuring out how to play the videos themselves.
After the interactive sing-alongs, I will teach the students a game I have created. Here is how the game works. There are three kinds of dances that correspond to a certain unit of measurement. “Dance like a Ballerina if this object should be measured in centimeters!” “Dance the tango or cha-cha if the object should be measured in inches!” “Dance slow-mo if this object should be measured in meters!” In this game, I will list a series of objects and students will determine what unit of measurement fits it best. This is how I will guide students in demonstrating their understanding.
