This sub-module should be completed after the sub-modules on Place Value & Expanded Form; Fractions; Exponents; Operations; Decimals, Ratios & Percents; and Solving Problems with Fractions, Decimals, and Percents. All of the skills required to order numbers of all kinds are learned within these sub-modules.
We’ll be building on our knowledge of representing numbers and getting more practice converting between various forms of numbers. There is a quick video below on some conventions we will use to help us order and compare numbers.
Because there isn’t a lot of content for this module, we’ll get started on some examples right away and start ordering the following two sets of numbers in the videos below.
Because you already have the skills to do so, it is recommended that you attempt to order the numbers yourself first, and watch the videos to check your work or for help when you are stuck.
(1) Order the following set of numbers from least to greatest.
(2) Order the following set of numbers from greatest to least.
(3) Briefly explain how you know that 0.1 > 0.01 > 0.001.
