This site is meant to help teacher candidates prepare for the Math Proficiency Test as painlessly as possible.
We determined what content to include on the site based on the MPT practice test, reviewing the curriculum documents for Grades 3-8 to pull out the “good stuff”, and the list of suggested topics/coverage on the MPT website.
Though we strive to cover all of the most of the relevant topics and skills, please feel free to contact us if you think we've missed something and we'd be happy to try to include it. You can also contact us with questions, requests for more examples or more detailed explanations, to correct mistakes that we’ve made, or anything else at all!
This is a volunteer effort and all of our content is free to access, including live review sessions with Ally, video lessons, and practice questions. Due to requests from some users of the site, we are now accepting donations. We truly appreciate any and all support!
Donations are processed through PayPal. If you have any questions, or would prefer a different method of payment, please feel free to contact us and we will gladly work to arrange an alternative.

My name is Ally and I’m going into my final year of the Intermediate/Senior Consecutive Education program at Brock University in September with French and Mathematics teachables. I have an undergraduate degree from the University of Waterloo.
I started making this site on the March Break when I was going crazy with boredom. I made most of the content videos on the site myself because I wanted there to be as little "fluff" as possible.
I created almost all of the "math" content for this site, including all videos. My partner, Jenna, joined to help me and has been a huge help with the pedagogy section (especially since I dreaded starting that). I had an especially fun time creating all the YouTube videos.
I know that for some, this test is anxiety-inducing, so my goal is to make studying for it a little less stressful. I hope that despite the stress & worry, we are all able to walk away from this test having learning something new.
In my spare time, I like to read (historical fiction and fantasy), cook, visit my cabin in Muskoka, and hike.
For private/paid tutoring, please contact me at ah19wn@brocku.ca.
My name is Jenna and I am a soon-to-be-certified teacher. I attended the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (Master of Teaching, Class of 2021). My teachable is French in the Junior/Intermediate division.
As someone with little formal math education, I knew that I needed to start pouring a lot of time into studying for the MPT, so I began creating a study guide for myself. I then realized it might be helpful to others, so I started reworking it into a guide for all TCs. When I saw Ally’s site I reached out to her and we decided to collaborate and pool all of our work together here in one central location for other TCs.
Although my area of expertise is not mathematics (and although I have my own reservations about the implementation of the MPT), I know firsthand how overwhelming and time-consuming it can be to wade through hundreds of pages of math content, government documents, and practice tests, and I want to help reduce my fellow TCs’ stress as we navigate this new step in our journeys as educators .
