Meet Kuya Nelson, a passionate advocate for healthier, more sustainable food systems. A retired police officer, Nelson left government work in 2016 to pursue his lifelong dream of farming—and to continue helping people in a new way. In 2019, after a personal battle with diabetes, he made the leap to organic farming, drawn by its profound health benefits and its harmony with nature. Today, he shares everything he’s learned as an active member of the MARIWSKA community, mentoring aspiring growers and hosting hands-on workshops on earth-friendly cultivation techniques. Nelson’s journey from the halls of public service to the fields of Janlis Farm embodies his unchanging commitment to serve others—one plant at a time.
Located on 3,000 square meters of fertile land, Janlis Farm is a thriving hub of organic agriculture led by Kuya Nelson. With a deep commitment to health, sustainability, and community, the farm is now in the final phase of organic certification, a milestone that reflects their years of dedication and care.
The farm follows a natural crop rotation system, growing a diverse selection of vegetables including cucumber, okra, kalabasa, ampalaya, lettuce, pechay, sitaw, talong, upo, and patola. All seeds are lovingly saved from previous harvests, making the process self-sustaining and deeply connected to the land.
Instead of synthetic inputs, Janlis Farm nourishes its soil and plants with homemade Fermented Plant Juice (FPJ), Fermented Fruit Juice (FFJ), and occasionally Fish Amino Acid (FAA)—all natural and crafted with care.
One of their proudest creations? Their delicious fresh lumpia singkamas, made with farm-grown ingredients and shared with a growing circle of happy customers. With the organic seal within reach, Janlis Farm is ready to bring even more clean, local, and lovingly-grown produce to Filipino homes.
