Student Information
Hello everyone! My name is Marianellys Alexania Mojica Alvarado, ID 9-761-700. I am an English student at Universidad Latina de Panamá. I was born in Veraguas, but my family moved to the city for better opportunities. I studied at Saint Joseph Salesian School for ten years and then graduated from Colegio Nuestra Señora de Lourdes in 2020.
I love reading and cinema, so translators and interpreters have always interested me. I want to develop my interpretation skills to work in whatever field I am passionate about. Therefore, I will give my all to be a great translator in the hopes of raising in the readers the same emotions the spectators have while reading a book or watching a film.
Introduction:
As a student of consecutive translation, I will take this opportunity to share my experience with you regarding the projects I have undertaken thus far. My primary focus has been on diverse topics such as science, law, and literature. I have interpreted speeches and presentations in these fields. It is crucial to comprehend the intricacies of the content being translated and convey the intended message. Therefore, through recordings and comments, I will share what I learned. I am eager to present my projects and learn from your experiences.

Description: Interpretation of a medical video explaining what tuberculosis is, how the disease progresses, and the difference between active and latent infections. I recorded this video using Zoom.

Description: This video explains that civil liability is the obligation of a person who has caused harm to another to compensate him or her. Moreover, there are requirements for civil liability to exist. I utilized Zoom since it did not cause any difficulties.
Optional Project: Short Fictions
Title: Todo saldrá bien, un cuento de Albert Espinosa (Original video).
Description: In this short story, Albert Espinosa transports us to the year 2115 where a grandfather and his granddaughter will share their fears and strengths as they travel through space. The technology employed to record this video was Zoom.
Conclusion:
Consecutive interpretation has taught me a lot about the importance of an interpreter. Through Moodle and Google Sites, I have realized that this subject requires different skills like note-taking, good memory, and accuracy. If I compare the activities on both platforms, I could say that they reinforced one another because the information in Moodle was fundamental to completing my projects. Understanding new concepts could be demanding, but immediately practicing what was learned helped me.
I found module 13 absorbing with its audiovisual resources. I think the module topic, interpreters in fiction and real life, was eye-opening because it aids us in visualizing what being an interpreter means. The possibilities are endless, and the videos of the different films felt real. Similarly, module 2, with its note-taking practice, was super fun during the session. Undoubtedly, I gained a new insight with that activity. In Google Sites, the most interesting activities for me were the medical and the optional videos. With the first one, I noticed some progress compared to previous recordings, and I also liked researching the topic. Still, my favorite was the optional project due to the emotion it brought.
After spending time practicing and learning consecutive interpretations, I have concluded that it is a challenging yet rewarding skill to master. To keep developing this class and my learning, I would suggest an activity related to intonation because an interpreter should be able to get more information beyond words. I am sure this lesson would be embedded in each student after making it. On the other hand, I have learned that good note-taking skills, active listening, and the ability to recall information are crucial in this field quickly. Overall, my experience with consecutive interpretation has taught me the importance of patience, perseverance, and continuous practice to become a successful interpreter.
