We had been preparing for months a beautiful Encounter: fifty years of existence, that counts and that is celebrated.

And then we had to face the facts and shorten the duration: the 50th Meeting was going to become a Brief Meeting over three days. Of course, we had made our arrangements to welcome our public in compliance with the health protocols in force.

But today, the Covid, far from fading away, is back to its former glory. If we don't do more, we are told, the epidemic will spread further in the country and hospital services risk saturation.

However, health precautions no longer seem to us to allow us to serenely maintain the convivial spirit of the Meetings usually proposed in Marcigny: a small entrance hall at the Vox Film Meetings, a hall with a reduced capacity due to the rules of distancing, restaurants with limited gauges, an audience coming from various regions subjected to the vagaries of the autumn climate between sessions.

Therefore, out of solidarity with those who are fighting against this virus and its harmful consequences, and in view of the difficulties in ensuring a satisfactory and yet pleasant organization, we have decided not to maintain the Meeting scheduled for the end of this month.

Yes, we have a big heart, we think of those who have invested themselves in this Meeting: our local partners (restaurants, lodgings, rural family homes...), our national partners (CNC and distributors) and all our public who have been waiting for this moment of Film Meetings.

Our decision is not only based on a principle of feasibility but of social responsibility. We want it to be understood as such.

And we strongly hope to be able to give you an appointment to share our passion for heritage cinema under better auspices!

The Marcynéma Office

The Marcynéma association runs viewing sessions reserved for members and has organized for nearly 50 years an annual film event, the Rencontre cinéma de Marcigny (Marcigny Film Meeting).

Founded in 1971, the Rencontre successfully brings together enthusiasts and moviegoers, high school students and students, the general public and professionals of the 7th art around themes or the discovery of classic or rare films of the world film heritage in restored copies.

This oldest meeting of cinema in rural environment was animated by Paul Jeunet, audiovisual trainer, initiator and artistic director of the meeting, cousin of the director Jean-Pierre Jeunet who was himself one of the directors of the association at its origins .

Following the years of journalists, critics, distributors of films, directors, film heritage curators... contribute to the success of the event.

The films are presented in the Vox cinema hall of Marcigny, former chapel of the Ursuline convent of the Charolais-Brionnais region. In the form of parallel animations, Marcynéma exhibits his posters in various historic monuments, shops and museums of the city of Marcigny. An exhibition of contemporary photographs, film archives, a theatrical show, a concert or a cinema concert, debates... can accompany the event.

Preserving, restoring cinematographic works is a must, showing them is a necessity, seeing them, seeing them again, discovering them is a pleasure. This is what offers each year Marcynéma, in the conviviality of a meeting in the countryside that many say "unique".

Programming

The films are projected in DCP or 35mm original version with French subtitles.

To meet around known or forgotten cinematographic works has always been the ambition of Paul Jeunet. While remaining true to this intention, the 49th edition opens to films of various origins and varied genres, always in original version, often in restored copies. For this new "part of the countryside", we propose a journey through 60 years of the history of the cinema, with a cinema concert, presentations, exchanges, exhibitions ...

COMING to Le Vox Theater - 12 rue des écoles - 71110 Marcigny 

Marcigny is located 30 km north of Roanne and 25 km south of Paray-le-Monial on the N482.

Access : SNCF station Roanne or Paray-le-Monial then because in correspondence (journey time 40mn) or TGV station Le Creusot then direct bus in correspondence (Cours de la Gare).

The Vox cinema is equipped with adapted access. Also think about carpooling ... 

Meal

Marcynéma offers meals taken in common at the restaurant Le Vieux Puits (to be reserved at the reception). The creperie restaurant Côté Cours offers a "Special Meeting Formula" (to book individually: +33 (0) 3 85 25 46 56).
