Speculative Studio Brief 20242025-1.pdfClimate change is a key issue of our time, and architecture plays an important role in tackling it. Through environmentally conscious design and a deep understanding of place, designers can respond meaningfully to their surroundings.
The Studio seeks to bring the global issues of climate change into dialogue with the more intimate and immediate concerns of a local neighborhood. It focuses on creating designs that respond to the unique challenges and opportunities of a particular place.
The Studio invites design research through the development of design intentions or manifestos to speculate on what a possible future might look like. It encourages rethinking environmental design strategies and preparing for future scenarios to create innovative and contextualized architecture. Rather than focusing on a particular style, this approach emphasizes the design process. The design becomes a ‘testing ground’ where different ideas are trialled, working both independently and collaboratively – questioning how architecture can help raise awareness of environmental issues and drive change in local communities.
