TOWARDS SOCIAL-ECOLOGICAL RESILIENCE THROUGH PORO-CITY
Rapid urbanization is drastically changing natural areas into heavily built-up cities. This involves a significant increase in man-made structures like roads, buildings, and parking lots, which replace natural spaces like parks and forests. This "grey infrastructure" disrupts the natural flow of water. Therefore, integrating urban scale intervention (Sponge City) within architectural scale could potentially support idea holistically. The porous city concept, inspired by nature's ability to absorb and retain water, aims to mitigate these issues. the sponge city concept represents a shift towards a more sustainable and resilient urban model to adapt environmental difficulties, particularly through efficient water resource management. Porous cities assist prevent flooding, lessen urban heat, and promote green spaces by creating surfaces and infrastructure that for water absorption, storage, and delayed release.
