Ruth
The Book of Ruth is a story of divine providence, showing how God works in ordinary lives. In Christianity, Ruth’s inclusion in the genealogy of Jesus (found in the Gospel of Matthew) highlights God's plan for redemption through Jesus, who is a descendant of David, Ruth’s great-grandson.
In Judaism, the book emphasizes themes of loyalty, kindness, and the importance of following God's commandments in everyday life. It is often read during the festival of Shavuot, which celebrates the giving of the Torah, because Ruth’s acceptance of Israel's God is seen as a model of conversion.
The Book of Ruth is a story of faith, love, and redemption. Through Ruth’s devotion to her mother-in-law Naomi and her faith in God, it shows how God works through ordinary people to accomplish His purposes. It remains a cherished and meaningful part of both Jewish and Christian scriptures.Â
