I Samuel

The Book of 1 Samuel is a book of the Bible that tells the story of Israel's transition from a theocracy to a monarchy. The book focuses on the lives of the prophet Samuel, King Saul, and King David, and includes several key themes: 

• The importance of honoring God: The book emphasizes that God will bless those who honor him and keep his commandments. 

• The contrast between the proud and the humble: The book shows how God opposes the proud and exalts the humble. 

• The promise of a messianic king: The book foreshadows the coming of the messianic King, Jesus, who was promised in the Old Testament. 

• Providence: The book shows how God uses everyday events to work for his purposes.
