Inspired by the figure of Circe in greek mythology, the heroine of ‘Carey’ pines from a distance for her “friend”, who leads her on while also being in their own relationship. The song explores feelings of lust, guilt and exasperation, with exclamatory choruses of “Carey!” which make up the song’s catchy tag line. Circe’s own associations with drunkenness and gluttony inspire the visuals for the song.
