Inspired by Ted Hughes’s “Bride and Groom Lie Hidden For Three Days”, Maggie’s delicate love song, ‘Brick By Brick’ layers a beautiful melody line and poetic lyricism over electronic elements and vocoded harmonies reminiscent of Olivia Dean’s ‘UFO’. A piano ballad at heart, the song retains its intimacy and evokes the Creation, and Eve: ‘build up your skeleton slowly, matching your bones up to mine’.
