Hello everyone! I am Kangyu Li. I come from Wenzhou, China. I am 22 years old and finish my undergraduate study on dec. 2022. I only have one semester formal working experience, so I am not very experienced teacher. I love math and believe that a nice teacher will have a positive leading and impact on students' life. Thus, I choose to be a math teacher.
Besides, I love citywalk because I think it offers me the opportunies to feel the cultural atmosphere of the city, release my pressure, and merge in nature.
Midterm Reflection
Through eight weeks of studying, I have learned a lot of things that I never touched before. This course opens a new world for me to know that in this technological time, teachers have inconceivably various methods to display their lessons.
First, I am inspired by flipped classroom method. Teachers can no longer be restricted to teaching the knowledge verbosely. They can put the materials for students to study at home. During the class, students will be encouraged to be more participate and have more engaged activities. Flipped classroom cultivates children's good learning habits, prepares students, and increases the pertinency and effectiveness of classroom learning. Teachers have time to communicate with students, answer students' questions, participate in study groups, and give individual guidance to each student's study. However, flipped classroom also faces a great problem, that is, students have poor self-discipline and willpower, and such self-control can not be trained in a day or two. In all, the flipped classroom is a useful tool but also a challenge both for teachers and students.
In addition, I am surprised by generative AI. Although it may not completely replace teacher's work, it makes teacher's work much more efficient. First, we can use it in the work of text editing, like improving lesson plans, school copywriting, etc. Second , it provides abundant innovative ideas for us that really saves our time since brainstorming will take teachers' time and energy.Third, it can provide teachers with abundant learning resources and communication opportunities through online platforms and social media, prompting cooperation and sharing among teachers. I hope, in my future career life, I can explore and experience the diverse functions of AI. I hope, in my future career life, I can explore and experience the diverse functions of AI.
Besides these two points, I also learn the operation of so many useful tools such as desmos, geogebra. I expect I can continuously get more ideas from this course!
Final Reflection
Hi, all. The timepass so quickly. Now, it is the end of this course. I think this course isreally interesting, and I learned many things that I never been exposed to before.
We have learned so many useful knowledge in this course: many theorems, operations, powerful apps, etc. And this course mostly design as group work. I think it is really nice! During each group cooperation, we learned from each other, collaborate to complete each tasks, and realize the importance of group.
Most impressive is that I learned how to use digital tools, such as Demos, Shiny app, Geogebra, etc. to help my class. Two projects push us to utilize and explore these tools more deeply. Especially, in the second project, we are asked to create the study page, that is novelty to me. We should first make sure the definition, clarify our teaching goals, and then design each task to achieve our lesson goals. I think Shiny app encourages great engagement for students. And it is a useful tool when we study statistics since some hard-calculated data can be easily figure out by it. It also can visualize data in various form that provides many possibilities for class. I think the studying of these digital tools will be really helpful in my future teaching.
Finally, thanks for Dr. Ku who brings and design wonderful lectures for us. Thanks for my group members, who worked together to make one and one “masterpieces”.
