During this time, people are experiencing increased fear and anxiety, drastic changes in daily life, financial instability, and social isolation. Following the CDC and WHO guidelines for “flattening the curve” for COVID-19 are of the utmost importance right now. Taking care of your own mental health is also critically important.
Steps can be taken by everyone to ensure that they are not neglecting their mental health during this time of crisis. Check in with yourself. Check in with your friends and family. Although we may be physically separated, we can still support one another through these emotionally distressing times.
Healthcare workers are not only at increased risk for exposure to COVID-19, but they are also potentially at risk for increased emotional stress due to being on the frontlines of this pandemic. High levels of physical & emotional stress and traumatic experiences can lead to long-lasting effects on overall mental health.
