Unit Theme: "Traveling and Exploration"
Unit Objectives:
By the end of this unit, students will be able to...
Scan and select relevant cultural information from an authentic travel website.
Produce a short blog post showing information about another culture different from their own.
Identify and summarize key points from an authentic informational article.
Collaboratively create an infographic with tips for engaging in ecotourism.
Quizlet: Traveling Vocabulary Quiz
Accuracy: This Quiz was created by a teacher, so the words and their definitions are accurate. However, some quizes on quizzlet may be created by students and may contain errors.
Currency: This quiz contains relevant terms that students could actually use in real life and it also contains pictures, which help students internalize the content better.
Content: Excellent for vocabulary practice after a class or before an exam. A useful feature of Quizlet is that it allows students to practice using the same flashcards with a different modality, which could be very useful for students who like to review the content in different ways.
Functionality: Very user-friendly. All the reviewing modes are very easy to use, so students could just open the quiz and start practicing right away.

2. Kahoot!: Travel as a Phrasal Verb
Accuracy: The content is accurate.
Currency: The phrasal verbs and phrases featured in the kahoot! are relevant and useful, as they could be used in a real-life context.
Content: Very engaging for students, especially if it's used in a physical classroom, where students can work together to answer. This Kahoot! would work well for reviewing grammar and vocabulary and checking for comprehension.
Functionality: Highly interactive and intuitive. Could be used in both live classroom and remote settings, but playing with their peers in the classroom could help students feel more engaged and foster collaborative thinking.
3. Edpuzzle: What is Food Tourism?
Accuracy: This is a well-done exercise that contains relevant questions related to the exercise.
Currency: The YouTube video used contains up-to-date information and it's clear and concise, and it doesn't contain lots of filler.
Content: This exercise is excellent for reinforcing listening skills and fostering independence, as students can navigate the video and the questions as they please, and they are in charge of their learning process.
Functionality: User-friendly, as it doesn't contain many complex or advanced features.

4. Padlet -> "My Travel Experience"
Accuracy: This Padlet contains accurate language
Currency: The words used in the posts are words that are commonly used when talking about travelling, so the vocabulary is relevant to the theme of this unit.
Content: The content is relevant to the theme of this unit, as it constains different types of travel experiences, as well as some multimedia resources, such as pictures and videos.
Functionality: Easy to use. Visual and intuitive layout that works well on all devices.

5. Storybird -> "Traveling Around the World"
Accuracy: The language used is accurate, as well as the information in the book.
Currency: Relevant to the theme of the unit and to younger students in general.
Content: Contains very nice pictures that add to what's narrated through the text, as well as funny rhymes.
Functionality: Visually engaging and easy to use. For many students, reading using Storybird could be a lot more engaging than reading a physical book.

6. VoiceThread -> "Colombia"
Accuracy: High. This voicethread shows factual information about colombia, as well as slides that can help students internalize the content easily.
Currency: The information is up-to-date, as the voicethread has been created recently.
Content: Relevant to the travel theme of the unit, as the voicethread shares information about what it's like to travel to Colombia and their touristic sites.
Functionality: This is essentially a more engaging way to deliver a presentation. What makes VoiceThread more engaging than a conventional presentation is that the audience can leave voice notes as comments, emojis or text, as well as fast forward or go back in the voicethread.

7. Wordwall -> "Travel Quiz"
Accuracy: High.
Currency: Some of the objects used in the exercise are no longer used often, but the exercise is still engaging.
Content: All of the vocabulary mentioned is relevant to the theme of the unit of work.
Functionality: Works well on all devices. Wordwall is user-friendly and makes learning vocabulary more engaging to students.
