The first few tracks come in giving you hope for a breakout mixtape from 21 before he blew up. Sadly after the first couple of songs the sound blends together and begins to become over saturated. 21 displays his ability to reflect on his life in songs like Skrrt Skrrt and Heart So Cold. But any momentum towards a expanding array of topics, is always brought down by basically filler tracks which seem to be copy and paste tracks. Repetitive hooks work in favor of 21 but also can cause songs to feel to long, repetitive, unneeded, or to basic. Lyrically this mixtape is a generic 21 Savage project. He goes from showing a promising couple of songs to chorus's where he just repeats the same word. On Drip 21 Raps "On a drip, drip, drip, drip, drip, drip, drip / Aquafina drip, drip, drip, drip, drip, drip" he than switches to a more complex chorus and verse in the song Start Dying but he doesn't show major improvement in this album lyrically. But this is 21's first project so he does deserve credit for making the lyrics somewhat interesting. The production on this album is handled by mainstream producers like Metro Boomin, TrapMonneyBenny, and Zaytoven to less known producers like Fukk 12 and DJ Plugg. The production throughout the album shows the beginnings of very famous producers. The production seems to simplistic in some places and in others seems like a bunch of sounds thrown together. However the production on this album isn't bad, there are good songs production wise like Skrrt Skrrt and Slaughter Ya Daughter. The flow is similar throughout the album, however it is masks well with 21's different delivery's from sounding exhausted from screaming on Pimp to a heavily monotone influenced delivery on Drinkin and Driving. 21 is versatile on this project for him and for his first project. 21 deserves credit for moving out of a "generic" 21 song and changing things up with different delivery's and production. Overall I enjoyed a couple songs from this project but do think there is much room to improve. In the future I would like to see 21 change up his topics and flows. He also needs to cut back on some of his delivery's he displayed on this album as some of them do take away from the tracks. Overall this mixtape displays 21’s early music and style. This is always a good project to look back on, but doesn’t have much replay value. Since the mixtapes release I have listened to the project 6 times, most tracks have no replay value. I don't have much to say about this mixtape as it is a older 21 project.
