Go Local! Dyno Tune. But remember you must insist on not going for MAX power at WOT. Go for safe reliable toque under the curve.
I saved a few bucks and liked the reputation of Black Bear Performance. I bought their auto-cal auto tune and service.
To be honest the problems in the beginning were all ME. They sent me a starting point tune and I gave them a log of it, with a vacuum leak. Next the IAT break out harness from Boost District fried the LSA IAT and damaged the MAF sensor. The damaged MAF sensor showed up and a MASSIVE vacuum leak just as boos was building. The MAF was sending bad signals to the ECM. So when I finally replaced it things got better FAST.
Kudos to Black Bear Performance for putting up with me over the holidays working on vacation and all.
I am still waiting for the drive-ability in open loop cold engine to be tuned out and maybe bring the A/F ration a bit leaner.
My gripe with eMail tunning is it takes about a week to hear back from them.
Local Dyno tune would cost me $600 to $1000 where this was about $500. But local I would have found the problems sooner and fixed them faster and i would have been done that day or 2.
