Now on to the fun stuff. Clean, vacuum, blow out, and clean again. Get all the crap off your engine, hood, cowling, anywhere and everywhere. Time to open your engine and you don't need crap falling in a open intake valve.
Remove:
- Disconnect the battery
- Disconnect brake booster
- Remove air filter, air tube, disconnect MAF sensor and throttle, remove throttle
- Remove cover, all wires and tubes from the stock intake.
- Disconnect Evap line to intake, the PCV line off the driver side rear valve cover and passenger front valve cover.
- Loosen all the wire harness tie downs
- Disconnect the fuel line. Use a proper tool!
- Loosen the 10 intake bolts
- Rip that big hunk of plastic intake off the truck.
- Stuff cloth rags down the intake ports, paper can tear and fall in.
- Clean the crap out of everything. clean the valley cover and get all the gunk off the heads where the gaskets go. do not use metal scrapers or anything abrasive, just cleaner and rags.
Installation: use lube on all the gaskets to they don't rip. I used Vaseline and or Teflon gasket grease. Remove the rags from the intake ports.
- Flip the blower upside down, find the locating dowel and knock it off with a chisel making sure it is gone enough to not get in the way
- Install the supplied stock gasket on to the blower with the supplied rivets.
- Install the supplied gaskets on to the head adapters.
- Set the adapters on the heads making sure they line up and are on the right side and not upside down.
- Get a friend to help lower the blower on to the adapters. While looking down the intake ports lightly and evenly lift the blower to adjust the adapters. one side at a time.
- Shove cloth rags down the intake runners filling the walls for when you drop a washer. Have a magnet on hand for when you do.
- Drop in the corner bolts using the new bolts and washers supplied with the kit. Hand screw the bolts through the gaskets wiggle and juggle the adapters till the bolts line up and screw in by hand. once you have it 4 pointed prep the rest of the bolts with blue lock tight.
- By hand start the 10 bolts and washers in to the intake. just shy of hand tight. Wiggle the blower to make sure it is sitting flat and nothing got in the way. Using the diagram below follow the torque sequence in 3 passes. hand snug, 42 In Lbs, then 89 In Lbs.
- Remove the rags from the intake runners.
- Install the lid using lube on the gasket and the TOP of the orange pressure gasket.
- Install the fuel rail and injectors
- I left the Evap and PVC off for tuning for now.
- Install the MAF IAT break out harness. Take time now to make damn sure the harness does not put 12 volts on the IAT. I had to move pins on mine as it fried the IAT.
- Connect the MAP sensor.
- Connect the big red battery + positive wire to the alternator.
