Program works with industry and community to maximize student engagement and employment. Industry has a clear voice in program direction.
The La Puente High School Public Safety Pathway Students participate in CERT (Community Emergency Response Training). The training is also open up to staff. Training is done through the University of Utah (link above)

In 2024, 30 students and 6 staff members were certified
In 2025 it is projected that 35 students and staff will be certified
CTE Ambassador for the Public Safety Pathway with Anthony Bridi, Coordinator III for LACOE at the Middle School Symposium hosted by HLPUSD.

Program has an active advisory committee. Advisory meets once in the fall at a district sponsored CTE Advisory Committee dinner. Attendees at the dinner include CTE students, CTE teachers, school administrators, district administrators and industry professionals. CTE Ambassadors volunteer to support and help during the event. Advisory Committee also meets once in the spring.
Program advisory committee is well represented with community, industry, and reflective of the diversity of the school community
The advisors are invited to visit the program at any time.

The Public Safety Pathway is promoted in a variety of ways. They connections with the community provide the students with many different avenues to learn about careers in public safety. The schools social medial also promotes on their sites.
The district utilizes a PR firm to document events.
Our CTE Ambassadors created a promo video that was played in our weekly school announcements. They also participate in many school events .
Industry is involved with our program beyond the advisory committee via LA County Sheriff Department, West Covina Police Department, California Highway Patrol and Riverside Sheriff Department.
We continue to build relationship and promote the program to the community.
La Puente High School public safety pathway instructor Toni Ramirez and La Puente High senior Nathan Tadeo discuss the school’s public safety pathway, what it takes to become a certified dispatcher, how to handle a crisis situation calmly, talking to classmates about domestic violence, and the importance of being able to communicate clearly and effectively.
The LPHS Dispatching students visited the Law Enforcement Academy students at Sparks Middle School. They taught them what a 911 dispatcher does and how to make a 911 call.
