La Puente High School Public Safety Pathway Mission Statement
Our Public Safety Pathway is dedicated to equipping students with the ability to evaluate issues from multiple perspectives, innovatively and collaboratively solve problems, and effectively communicate their ideas. Through a comprehensive curriculum encompassing four cumulative courses, such as Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, Public Safety and specializing in Emergency Dispatching. The La Puente High School Pathway strives to strengthen a deep knowledge of public safety principles, effective communication, and critical thinking. Our goal is to inspire and prepare students to become responsible, empathetic, and qualified professionals who are prepared to serve and protect with integrity and greatness.
Program Goals
Our 1-year goal is to continue our program growth thru student enrollment. We currently have 173 students enrolled. The pathway goal is to have 195 students enrolled for the year 2025-2026.
Our 3-year goal would be to be able to offer the seniors in the Emergency Dispatching course internships opportunities with local businesses. Our 3rd year would emphasize on future employment goals and placement. This would allow students to apply their Emergency Dispatching Certification in the workplace.
Our long-term goal would be to add a Saturday or after school program that would allow the C.E.R.T Certified students to continue to train with the Los Angeles County Fire Department to strengthen their natural disaster response skills. This would allow the C.E.R.T. students to play a critical role of support in the school or community in the event of a natural disaster.
