TARGET BATTING

The challenge

How many points can you score either hitting through a goal, or knocking targets over? This is a batting challenge you can make harder or easier depending on your confidence levels, the equipment you have, and whether you are indoors or outdoors. Follow along with the video, pause when it's time to act, and start again to see the next level of challenge when you're ready!

Keeping Score: This challenge is about improving your own score each time. Write down your score for the first time you try, and when you come back later, see if you can beat it!

What you need

  • Balls that are safe for the space you are using and makes the challenge achievable - e.g. soft balls, scrunched up paper, ball of socks, tennis ball or football (if outside)

  • A bat that will be able to hit your ball comfortably - e.g. if you are trying to hit a football, you will need a bigger bat than if you use socks for a ball

  • Safe space with no breakables

  • You can do this challenge by yourself, or with a partner

LEVEL 1

Hitting Through a Goal

  • Decide the number of hits that will equal 1 round, and keep this consistent so you can compare each time

LEVEL 2

Knock Your Targets Over

  • Set up the same number of targets & balls

  • Use a smaller ball & bat

  • Set up a smaller goal area, smaller and/or fewer targets

  • If you swing & miss, count this as a turn

  • Use a larger ball & bat

  • Set up a larger goal area, bigger and/or more targets

  • If you swing & miss, continue until you hit the ball and don't count it as a turn
