ID is available all days. For consult requests, if possible try to get them in before noon if you are wanting them to be completed the same day. We try really hard to do all the consults placed before noon on the day the request came in.
For antimicrobial related questions that you are not sure require consult, please contact whoever is on call for stewardship. They are available 7 days/week 8-5pm. We now have an e-consult order. If you place that and then page, then we’ll have a template to document our recommendations for you and also have the ability to bill for our guidance if an in person consult isn’t needed.
We do have someone on call after hours FOR EMERGENCIES. (ex: questions about cerebral malaria treatment, difficulty diagnosing nec fasc). For routine ID related questions (ex: how to interpret RPR, guidance for syphilis treatment) please defer these questions to the morning.
