When your sims age to elders (or enter the world as a pre-made elder), they will have a 50% chance of developing issues with their sight, hearing or teeth (or all!).
If they begin to notice issues and get negative moodlets, they should see a specialist, which can be found under the elders pie menu, inside the physical pie menu.
These options will not be available unless they have noticed issues.
Upon ageing up, they also have a small chance of developing a new trait.
These are; Grumpy, Prone to Loneliness, Slow Mover & Restless Sleeper.
Your elders will be able to have their teeth removed in order to get dentures through the ‘Have Dentures Fitted’ interaction in the physical health pie menu.
Once they return home, they will have a new interaction to remove their dentures. They can put them back in by clicking on them and choosing the ‘Put Dentures Back In’ interaction.
When removed, they will keep their dentures in their inventory, and will get a negative moodlet when trying to eat without them in.
Sometimes their dentures can slip, giving them a negative moodlet but this can be fixed by clicking on a sink and choosing ‘Apply Denture Adhesive’.Â
Sims without their dentures in will have no teeth when in game (see picture below.)
If you have noticed your elder getting negative moodlets about their sight, they may need to see an optician, which they can do by choosing the ‘Get Eyesight Checked’ interaction.
If their eyesight is bad enough, they will need to wear glasses from then on.
They can choose their glasses in the ‘Physical Health’ pie menu.Â
Only these glasses will count as them wearing glasses!
There are several styles to choose from.
If they attempt to read whilst not wearing their glasses they will receive a negative moodlet.
If your sims starts to get negative moodlets regarding their hearing, you can send them to an audiologist in the physical health pie menu.
They will be able to wear hearing aids when they return and choose their colour from the interaction in the same pie menu.
If they try to socialise without wearing their hearing aids, they will get a negative moodlet.
Your elders have the option to see a therapist under the Mental Health pie menu, they will receive a positive moodlet from this.
If your elders experience death, then they have the option of going to a grief support group, which can be found under the same pie menu.
They can also practise deep breathing, and get a happy moodlet from it.Â
Your elders can hire a caretaker to come and visit their home every day. They can do this through the ‘Hire a Service’ menu in their phones.
Caretakers will tidy up the house, take care of the garden, socialise with your elders and can also be asked to make breakfast or lunch depending on the time of day.Â
You can ask them to do this by clicking on them, navigating to the ‘Elders’ pie menu and choosing ‘Ask for Breakfast/Lunch’.
This service will be free if your sim has a pension.
Meals on Wheels is a meal delivery service. Your elder can sign up for the service under the ‘Household’ category of their phones.
Once signed up, a meal will be delivered once a day. Vegetarians will be provided with a vegetarian option.
The delivery bag will spawn near the lot’s front door and when opened will place the delivery meal in your sims inventory.Â
When aged up to elder, your sims can use their phones to apply for a pension. It will take a couple days for their application to go through, but once accepted they will receive a weekly payment of 500 simoleons.
They will also receive free caretakers and a discount on meals on wheels.
The community centre lot trait can be placed on most non residential lots.
Here, Elders will come to socialise.Â
Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12pm, there is a ‘Puppy Playday’ for your elders to play with dogs (dependant on the Pets expansion).
Fridays at 3pm is an elementary school visit, so your elders can socialise and have fun with the younger generation.
Under the elders pie menu, you can find the cheats menu.Â
Here you can cheat the need for dentures, hearing aids and glasses.
Elders also have the option to give candy to children!
