Stephanie Fraser

Director of Little Pumpkins Inc- Early Learning Centre and Kentville After-School Program

Hi, I'm Stephanie,

I graduated and received my Early Childhood Education diploma from NSCC, kingstec in 2014, where then I joined our wonderful team of teachers at at Little Pumpkins  and later joined the team at KASP once opened in 2020.

I believe children learn best through play; giving them time to explore, create, discover, & be messy!  One of my favorite quotes is  “Take chances, make mistakes and get messy!” by Mr Frizzle.

My time outside of LP & KASP is spent with my husband and our 4 cats. We like to go  visiting family/friends. I like to read, do diamond art paintings and relaxing.  I love and enjoy everyday spent with all the children at both our programs.

Danielle Brown

Assistant Director for Little Pumpkins -Early Learning Centre and Kentville After-School Program

Hi my name is Danielle,

I graduated from Early childhood Education in 2015. I have a real passion for children and learning with children. I enjoy being outside and getting messy! In the past, I have worked  with the school board starting out as an Educational Assistance and then working my way into a job with the pre-primaries. Before working in the school board I worked at an after-school program for three years and truly enjoyed the school age children! Almost 3 summers ago now,   I got the opportunity to come back into a childcare center and have enjoyed every minute of it! I love to get messy and have fun with the children.

April Huntley

Lead Toddler Teacher: Purple Room

Hello! My name is April Huntley. I am a level 2 ECE with a passion for creating fun learning opportunities through play.  It has been a dream of mine to work with children since I was old enough to start babysitting. After being a stay at home mom for 3 years, I decided it was time for a change and took the leap to go to college at the age of 32. In 2022, I graduated at the top of my class as a level 2 ECE from NSCECE. I enjoy making toys and activities for the children in the classroom, and sharing my knowledge and ideas with other educators. I enjoy mentoring and a future goal of mine is to be a practicum advisor for ECE students. I am a mother of one to a sweet boy and I have an amazing fiancé who has always supported me on my journey. When not working, I enjoy volunteering, music, reading, crafting, dancing, and spending time with loved ones. I love having adventures with my family and creating memories that last for years to come.

Brittany Deschamp

  Assistant Toddler Teacher: Purple Room

Hi, I’m Brittany

I’m a 2021 graduate of the Early Childhood Education diploma program at NSCC Kingstec here in Kentville, and have been working in the childcare field ever since. I was born in Ontario, but moved to Bridgewater in 2005 where I lived and completed my schooling, from elementary all the way through grade 12. I located to the valley in the fall of 2019 to begin college and start my ECE career and lived here for about a year and a half, before moving back home in the spring of 2021 due to Covid. I since relocated back to the valley not long following, after accepting an ECE position here at Little Pumpkins, joining the LP team in the fall of 2021. I’ve been around children basically my whole life - from babysitting, to coaching, and then to becoming an educator. My biggest passion is working with children, being a positive role model, guiding them and helping them grow and succeed into beautiful and confident future adults. I love arriving to the centre every morning and see all the children greet me and hug me. In my eyes, children learn best through play - allowing them to get messy, take risks and use their imaginations. In my free time outside of the centre, you can find me spending time with my friends & family, going shopping or for spontaneous road trips, being outdoors, hanging at the beach in the summer, or just relaxing at home. I feel so blessed having the most rewarding career and caring for all of your beautiful, creative, loving children.

With a family of mixed cultures , we eat a lot of different foods and it’s something I’m very passionate about and excited to bring

Hazel Baxter

Hello, my name is Hazel,

I’m a high school student at NKEC, in the Early French Immersion program.

I’ve always loved spending time with children, they just have the purest and sweetest hearts, and they never fail to make me smile and laugh.

I joined little pumpkins the fall of 2021, and would come in after school, to tidy up and help around.

This summer has been the first time being in the classroom with the children and I am absolutely loving it!   I love knowing that I’m helping children to grow and learn - while making it fun!

I’m very happy that this has been the experience of my first ever job.

Dustin Sellars

Assistant teacher in mornings at LP, teacher are KASP in the afternoons

Hi my name is Dustin Sellars, originally from New Brunswick, from a small community called Blacks Harbour. I love to travel on my spare time, mostly because I love learning about different cultures but also exploring the beautiful scenery our earth gives to us.

I am currently studying Early Childhood Education through Nova Scotia Community College, with being a kid to heart, it makes me enjoy this profession even more. I am very happy to announce that I will be joining the Kentville After School Program, with bringing forward my interest and connections to the children, to also being a role model and a support system for families in need.

One quote that has stuck out to me from jumping into this field is from Maria Montessori, she stated

“ It's the process, not the product.”

Understanding that no child should be judged on what their creative minds have introduced to the world, but acknowledge on how they did it.
