The Marking Rules Guide is an important and fundamental part to Import Approvals. This Guide covers blanket rules, marking edge information, and miscellaneous information (such as halos and coloring lineart).
Please note! Previously uploaded imports should not be used as a guide or example for designs submitted to Import Approvals, as they may be illegal according to current rules.
When a guide says that the color must be “lighter or darker than the base coat”, it refers to the shade of the color. Markings that are lighter or darker than the basecoat must be colors that appear natural to the basecoat; a light blue marking may, generally, not appear on a red lirse, for example, but a light tan or sandy marking could appear on a brown lirse.
Guides will specify if markings can be any color! This will allow blue markings on red lirse and so on.
Across the guides you will find terms like "hard edge", "gradient edge", and "textured edge". Examples of these are listed below!
An edge cannot appear pixelated and will not be counted as a textured edge.
Hard edge
Soft edge
Gradient edge
Textured edge
*Can be a simple fur edge
Below is a general guide for how the fur sits! This is useful for markings that follow the flow of the fur, such as: spotting, freckles and starring.
“Fur” is used throughout the guides to refer to the hair-like body filimints, while feathers refer to the proper feathers on the head, tail, and arms of most lirse.
Below are the 6 body segments of a lirse; Head, Neck, Arms, Trunk, Legs, and Tail
Coloring the line art is encouraged! The only rule is that it must be visibly darker than the color it touches like Truffle here. Another option is to color the "inside" lines while leaving the outline of the import black, such as Nessa!
Halos are also encouraged, but may not be too solid or large. Halos should be a soft or gradient edge . Halos can be black, white or a natural color for the design. Halos that appear as unnatural or bright colors are not allowed.
If there are any Halos where the color(s) used are questionable, the team will rule on it together and the ruling must be respected.
