Over several weeks, I gathered research material in the form of audio/video snippets and written recollections from people around the world, collecting their responses through social media and personal messages. These fragments were then reinterpreted together with a group of friends and colleagues, who helped translate them into the final installation.
The piece was situated inside a toilet — an intentionally intimate setting — to heighten the personal, bodily, and often tender associations of early childhood. Visitors could choose which sound they wished to hear, creating a private moment of listening and remembrance. A notebook invited them to add their own memories or responses, extending the installation into an evolving archive of shared and rediscovered sounds.
