Player Experience

Targeted Aesthetics and Desired Player Effect Goals

Social and Engaging

Why?
We want to create a realistic magic circle and experiences for players that simulates how social media works in reality, which is highly interactive and engaging. Therefore, players can easily connect their game experience with reality, which makes our transformative aspect more powerful and easier to relate to.

How?

Each round players can interact with each other by giving likes to others’ posts. This makes the game socially engaging as the players interact with each other and each other’s cards.

Satisfaction

Why?

People always feel satisfied by getting the most likes and fame of being an influencer. We want to simulate the satisfaction of gaining attention and influence on social media. Besides, we want to encourage players to reveal as much misinformation as they can.

How?

If there is no tie during the vote then the player whose post has the most votes becomes the influencer and gains points, and they can also report other players’ posts. If the influencer successfully reveals the misinformation card, the player who posted it will lose points.

Risky & Nervous

Why?

Anything you do on social media could potentially have a great effect on you, your viewers, or both. The impact a post or other action will have may not be obvious or immediate, and we want to show that in our game.

How?

Using misinformation cards will result in a loss of points if it is reported but a greater point gain than true information cards if it is not revealed. Additionally, when a player lands on a random event space, the effects of the random event card they draw usually depend on whether they used a true information or misinformation card that round.

Educational

Why?

We want to raise players’ awareness of the misinformation on social media and educate them to think critically and not to believe everything online. This can emphasize the transformative aspect of our game and change players’ behaviour and thinking.

How?

We educate players by using a scoring system. Players who post misinformation and get revealed will face consequences (moving back).
