Innovation

Our project combines two different types of games, a race board game and a prompt-answering party game, into one coherent product. It aims to provide players with an understanding of both the motivation for posting misinformation and the negative impacts it has on consumers.

Relevance

Our project is relevant to the issue of misinformation on social media as it simulates making posts and gaining popularity on social media. The game provides a meaningful experience to the users by reflecting the two sides of posting misinformation. It provides a logical motivation to use misinformation cards, enforced by the fact that the potential “viewers” of the “posts” are imaginary and not anyone the players know personally, while giving suitable rewards and punishments in the gameplay that reflect real-life impacts of misinformation.

Selling Points

Likes and Lies is a board and card game about misinformation on social media that combines a race board game and a prompt-answering party game into one. Players make posts by matching a caption with a picture and compete to be the most popular social media celebrity.
