New Year's Eve COVID style (who are we kidding, this is us every year)
Dear Friends and Family,
I feel like we've all been waiting for 2021 if for nothing else than to feel like we are starting fresh. Then 2021 looked at 2020 and said "Here, hold my beer."
On the positive side, my first set of medical appointments for 2021 were fine and my situation is status quo. Not surprising since my scans in December looked fine and I haven't noticed anything different. Regardless, you just never know. I have no notable change in side effects. My blood work was "fine", my tumor marker was up slightly again about 4 points., While this is all good, it's been a hard month for me so far, I'm guessing for my family as well. Really hard - related to non health things. As we move through this challenging month please remember to give yourself and others some grace.
As I was reflecting over the New Year, I was thinking about our health insurance resetting. This made me think more about the cost of my treatment, the value of a human life. and the intersection of those. My musings may interest you. If nothing else you can see the financial burden of terminal cancer.
Be well. Be Kind. Stay safe. Wear a mask and make a plan to get vaccinated!
