Happy September everyone!
I'm sad it's September just because I love summer so much! It's still hot here during the day (mid 90s this weekend) but cooling down a lot at night (upper 50s).
I'm feeling good physically. Mentally doing ok as well. Some days are harder than others. I have "moments" that I try to acknowledge and then let pass. I am starting to have hot flashes - yay! That means less estrogen for the cancer to feed off of. They are not bad right now - under a minute and happen day and night randomly. Because I feel pretty good, I have a hard time not doing too much. My goal is to not be an overachiever (I may need help with that.)
Ann was here this past week! Glen went fly fishing in southern Colorado. We had a grand week and she was super helpful. She brought a bunch of recipes for food and drink that were a smashing success! I now know where to find Matcha (crushed green tea leaves) and have a yummy drink to make with it. [Fun fact: green tea has anti-cancer properties ... pour yourself (sans sugar) a cup today!]
I'm still trying to make sure I put "me" first - it's hard. Aiming to do better each day.
Tuesday (9/3) I have a regular check in with the nurse and they will draw blood. Hoping that my white blood cell count is high and that there is no risk of neutropenia (abnormally low blood levels of infection-fighting neutrophils, a specific kind of white blood cell). If my numbers are too low they will lower the dose of the chemo med.
They have to redraw the blood for genetic testing. Something went wrong with the other blood they sent the company. I won't have results of the testing now until October.
Conner is here mowing the lawn for us :-) Glen is out running and the girls are asleep. I'm going to go wake them so we can escape the heat today and head to higher elevation to walk/hike.
Much love to you all. We appreciate your support and all you do.
Donna (& Glen)
