During my junior year, I was first introduced to the Born to Read program when looking for community service to fulfill my National Honors Society membership. With a handful of other students, I was sent to a preschool to read to children for an hour. It was really cute, and they even asked us to stay longer to play with them outside. After that experience, I wanted to learn more, and through my senior year of Teacher Academy, I was able to. At one of our Developmental Days, a woman presented the program Born to Read and encouraged us to join the Youth Ambassadors section. I was intrigued and naturally signed up. I was able to visit the preschoolers one more time before life went crazy, but it was worth it.
