Here you can see my favorite projects from Extended Experience. A lot of my Extended Experience was submitted in the form of a summary, so I have also included descriptions of activities I was able to experience while student teaching my junior and senior year.
Here is one Extended Experience project I made to explain why I am choosing to pursue teaching. As I met several different students over the course of my two years, I realized that many of them have different passions, backgrounds, and learning styles. It is hard to teach lessons to such a variety of students, but I found that that was the kind of challenge I was looking for in life. I believe every child deserves to be loved, no matter their behavior because the behavior stems from something they cannot control. So I created a collage to relay my insight toward the true purpose anyone should become a teacher: to make his/her students feel loved.
In another Extended Experience, I attended a fourth grade teachers meeting and wrote a reflection. Below, you will find a summary of my experience.
"I spent my fifth hour with the fourth grade teachers and their meeting was very enjoyable. Instead of just observing, Mrs. Hathaway (my current host teacher) and all the other teachers made sure I understood what was being talked about, their favorite things about being a teacher, and what to expect if I were to go into that profession. The best thing about the meeting was getting to see how close the teaching team is because they would often tease each other or laugh about when they feel the most behind. Another part of the meeting I enjoyed was how easily they would bounce ideas off of each other and found solutions to satisfy all of them and their kids. They knew what each kid needed to get their best work out of them, and they made sure to prioritize that. I would love to work with other people who are as selfless and good at multi-tasking as the fourth grade teachers I observed today."
