This artifact is a group curriculum project that was created for my Disciplinary Literacy class, I participated my first semester as a senior at Trinity Christian College. the mission was to create a School and a curriculum for the students that would attend. My group memebers and I created a Christain school for the high school level and the curriculum for Physical education/Health, Math, Reading/Writing, Science, History and special needs accomodations.
I believe that this artifact connects with the professional teaching standard 3.3B "the competent teacher understands how to develop short- and long-range plans, including transition plans, consistent with curriculum goals, student diversity, and learning the." We made sure to implement goals, and short and long term plans into our curriculum for our students to be preapraed when they left high school.
Altogether, this project was challenging yet fun. To make up a school and a curriculum from scratch was unsettling at first. But, once we started, our previous knowledge we were taught about our studies of choice came into play and we completed the task and took away experience of creating a curriculum.
This artifact Is a UdB unit that I created for my Methods for general education during my last semester. this is a unit that is based on the backwards planning design and I chose 5th grade flag football. The main idea was to emphasize teamwork throughout the unit while teaching the students the game knowledge and skills used in flag football.
I beleive that this artifact connects with professional standard 3.3K "the competent teacher incorporates experiences into instructional practices that relate to a student’s current life experiences and to future life experiences". With team work being the big Idea, this is something the student swill use in life forever, wether it be a professional sports team, a job, and even home life.
This was an eye opening assignment, to change to this type of planning from a regular lesson plan is odd at first but I would say that I like the UbD unit planning better than regular lesson planning because I like that it is a little more broad but planned in a speific way that is simple.
