This Is a Traumatic Brain injury strategies paper that I wrote in my special education 216 class to help come up with ways to make it easier for students who suffer from this injury to learn, particpate and enjoy school.
I believe this artifact connects with content standard 1.1D " the competent teacher understands the impact of cognitive, emotional, physical, and sensory disabilities on learning and communication pursuant to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (also referred to as “IDEA”) (20 USC 1400 et seq.), its implementing regulations (34 CFR 300; 2006), Article 14 of the School Code [105 ILCS 5/Art.14] and 23 Ill. Adm. Code 226 (Special Education);" because it falls under the special education diversity group and they deserve the same amount of effort and teaching that other student recieve.
This was one paper I took a lot of interest in, I would love to become an adapted physcal education teacher and knowing different strategies for all students who need accomodations is important to me.
This artifact is a tradebook report I completed last semster. For this project I had to read two different books within my discipline of physical education, summerize them and then talk about the differences and simularities of the two books.
I feel this artifact connects with the content standard 1.1A "the competent teacher understands the spectrum of student diversity (e.g., race and ethnicity, socioeconomic status, special education, gifted, English language learners (ELL), sexual orientation, gender, gender identity) and the assets that each student brings to learning across the curriculum" because both books talk about their race, different cultures and socioeconomic statuses.
I am not a big reader but after this project I realized that reading within your discipline makes it easier because It is something that interest me and can give me insight as well while reading.
