I was taking a dissection anatomy class one year, and when it came time to get ready, I realized I had left my scrubs at home. I rushed back to my house, a little stressed and worried I'd be very late. But when I got to my room, I found that the scrubs I had left in the washer earlier that morning were dried and neatly folded, waiting for me on my bed. My mom had taken the time out of her day to do that for me, without me even asking. It might not seem like a big deal, but in that moment, it meant so much.
This experience made me realize how powerful the little things in life can be. Sometimes, we think acts of service have to be these big, grand gestures, but it's often the small, thoughtful actions—like folding someone’s laundry, that leave the biggest impact. My mom’s kindness wasn’t a huge act, but it showed she was thinking of me and cared about what I was going through. It taught me that integrating small acts of kindness into my life can have a bigger effect on others than I might ever realize. Whether it’s a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or just taking a moment to help, those little things can truly brighten someonetook ’s day and make a lasting difference.
