Obtaining an education
Growing up, the importance of education was persistently shown through the hardship events that unfolded within my family. The scenes of bare fridges, the haunting TV static in the background, moldy carpets, the distant barking of dogs, and the cool draft of air coming in through cracked windows, were echoes of our struggles. But hunger catalyzed my mother's determination to pursue an education – hunger for a better life, freedom, and relief from the burdens of poverty. Witnessing the effects of this hunger firsthand made me cautiously aware of the crucial role education plays in transforming lives. Education, I discovered, is the key to freedom. It has the power to satiate the relentless hunger that lingers in our minds, urging us to seek more than what our current circumstances offer. Through education, one can break the chains of limitations and embark on a journey of personal growth and success. It bestows upon us the tools to overcome challenges, dream bigger, and reach heights that would otherwise remain unattainable.
Without education, the true potential of unrestricted autonomy and self-reliance can never be fully realized. My parents understood this better than anyone, and their unwavering love for my sister and me was the driving force behind their determination to break the generational curse of limited education in our family. They knew the struggles of life without proper education, as they experienced the intense circumstances early in their marriage, just as I entered this world. Those early years were fraught with financial battles and constant embarrassment at the grocery markets when essential items remained just beyond our grasp. My father worked tirelessly at blue-collar jobs, and my mother had to be resourceful to make our meager resources last, stretching our meals to the bare minimum. At the tender age of four, I had normalized these hardships, accepting them as part of life’s harsh reality. But as I grew older, I realized that this couldn’t be the only way – there had to be more, and education held the key.

This certificate showcases how in high school I was able to complete the majority of my health science credits in highschool. While this might not seem important or noteworthy to some, to me it is physical proof of my accomplishments that I can look back on. While enrolling in dual enrollment courses in high school it taught me the importance of organization and effective planning and communication with teachers. The biggest jump from high school and college is the fact that a lot of the responsibility is given to you. The instructions don't inherently care as much if you're present or not, your ability to learn is in your hands which will pave the road you take.
