Global Competencies

Global Education Definitions

A global education allows today's students to take action and lead, helping to create a better future for all. It is comprised of four competencies: investigating the world, considering multiple perspectives, communicating across cultural lines, and taking action.

Global Citizenship: Individuals who see their role and positive contribution in a global context, understand how cultures of the world are interconnected, and respect diversity.

Global Competency: When individuals have the ability and desire to know what is happening in the world and respond to issues in a way that honors different perspectives.

Cosmopolitanism: Awareness of and comfort with different cultures and countries.

Globalization: National economies and cultures are increasingly interdependent and integrated, connected by digital means, global migration, and realization of the need of environmental stewardship.
