The teaching

The Teaching

As with all my courses, the mood is allowing and joyful. The pedagogic standard is professional, among other things including holds, playing technique, feeling the rhythm in your feet and body, playing functional rhythm for dancing and walking, phrasing, new tunes, history and traditions around the music and other stuff depending on what you wish. Every morning after breakfast we do simple dancing altogether and a couple evenings there is dancing teaching, voluntary of course, the way that anyone can enjoy followed by free playing and dancing.

The ability of the staff is wide. Please help us to make this a good experience and memory for you by telling us before and during the course what you wish.

Teaching will mainly be provided in English (and Swedish). It works fine.

Teaching will be made by the ear. It is good for eye contact and for imitating holds, style and rhythm. Since decades we know how to carefully deal with learning by the ear also for beginners and for classically trained, not used to playing by the ear. We know that, with only a little practise, everyone can manage.

The tunes will be carefully chosen to serve your learning. We will rather be focusing on playing quality than a great number of tunes. You can always get many tunes on your recording devices to take with you home. Some tunes might be shared in writing.

A lesson of maintenance will be offered for nyckelharpas and fiddles.

Leif will give a short lesson in the nyckelharpa history and in playing harmonies. You can also enjoy the harmony lesson together with Petrus Dillner here  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9APSgNZyt3I

Teachers

All teachers are professional on the nyckelharpa and the fiddle: the Riksspelmän (Swedish National Fiddlers) Edward Anderzon, Leif Alpsjö and Petrus Dillner and the assistant teachers Jan Andér, Per-Ola Lööf, Christer Sundbom and Bengt Johansson (new for this year).
