Lawton mouthpieces were originally sold directly by Geoff, dealing by mail order and also with personal callers to his home/workshop. We know the selling prices between 1967 and August 1983 because of priced advertisements in UK jazz musician's magazine Crescendo. After that time the advertisements were unpriced.

From the 1970s onwards Lawton mouthpieces were increasingly sold through music shops in the UK and then across the world. Prices from 1989 to date have been taken from the catalogues and websites of UK retailers such as Lewington's, Dawkes, Myatt's, sax.co.uk and Howarth's.

We haven't tried to research and record prices for second hand Lawton mouthpieces - these vary widely and some of the asking prices can be very high, without a sale necessarily resulting.

On 15 February 1971 the UK (and Ireland) moved to decimalised currency and we have converted prices prior to that time (in either Guineas or pounds, shillings and pence) into their decimal equivalents.

The retail prices include Value Added Tax (VAT) and have not been adjusted for inflation.
