Lawton's Own Description of the Model S
January 1989 artcle by Leslie Evans in Crescendo: The latest addition to the range is now being made, which Geoff Lawton is calling his “High Resonance” model. This is metal, and is silver-plated. It has a completely new tone-chamber design, with a high baffle, to give a big, bright sound – the modern tone, if you like. On this model he is using a much different type of ligature, with a rubber clamping plate, to allow the reed much more freedom, and much greater resonance.

Notes
Introduced in about 1989, initially silver plated.
Initially this model’s ligature had a rubber clamping plate, to allow the reed much more freedom, and much greater resonance. This style of ligature plate is believed to be quite unusual.
Baffle is high, with a straight slope down to a change of angle about half way along window where a less steep slope goes down into a medium-large chamber. Some examples have a step down from the second slope into the chamber.
Probably available only in metal (unless someone knows differently).
Possibly a forerunner of the ICON special edition.
