Mission, Vision and Values

Our Mission Statement (Why do we exist?)

The Lao Association of Midwives is a professional association of volunteers who are devoted to the improved health of the citizens of Lao PDR by fostering access to midwifery education, influencing health policy, developing midwifery networks and strengthening midwifery leadership.

Our Vision (What we aspire to do)

• Raise the status, maintain the integrity, support and promote the interest of the practice of midwifery and midwives in Lao PDR 

• Raise the public profile of midwives and the awareness of the value of the role of midwives in women’s health

• To promote and maintain a high standard of reproductive health care in Lao PDR 

• Assist midwives within Lao PDR to develop leadership roles in health matters and health policy

• To promote and improve continuing education opportunities for members of the association

• Liaise and cooperate with other groups and health care providers in order to influence the development of health policy throughout Lao PDR
