Years before the cataclysm, the Feywild was already receding from the realms of man. Four captives of the fey were released for a mission. A treant explains that the Seelie and Unseelie fairy courts were tied up in politics and deals, but they were prisoners, nobodies, expendables that could be tasked with a mission.
They were to retrieve a unicorn, the last seen in the woods, from a human settlement, a small mining village on the decline called Delver’s Dale. The treant implanted a sap crystal in each to keep them on task.
The party consisted of Finn the rabbit, D’art the rat, Prospero the hobgoblin, and Pippa the fairy.
After making their way past the fey market and through the rusted gate, the party ventured into town, trying to stay disguised. They learned of the mayor Captain Demetrius from a passing farmer.
Bluffing their way into the mayor’s house, the group knocked out the accountant watching the entrance into the inner chamber and Pippa cast a charm on the Captain before making introductions. She posed as relative of a war comrade and the others appeared as children under their cloaks.
The Captain’s guard kept a watchful eye, they were named Lennox, Lucius, Oswald, and Arcturius. The Captain introduced them to the visiting Princess Cinnoru, who the fey party immediately guessed was the unicorn they sought.
The princess had amnesia, but when they were alone, the party played fey music to jog her memory, which also caused her much distress. Calming her, Pippa made her invisible and they snuck out.
In the woods, the group was accosted by a band of goblins, trying to prevent them from escaping. The party struggled against multiple waves of opponents, including a summoned flame spirit, and eventually a blue dragon wyrmling that was ridden by the guard Arcturius.
Working together, they survived the assault and made it back to the fey gate. The princess returned to her unicorn form and the prisoners were granted their pardons.
