What is GIS?
A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a computer system for capturing, storing, and displaying data related to positions on Earth’s surface. GIS can show many different kinds of data on one map, such as streets, buildings, topography, vegetation, and satellite imagery - representing each as a "Layer". These layers enable people to more easily see, analyze, and understand patterns and relationships between man-made phenomena and the natural world. Please see the images below for a visual representation of this data structure.
What is the Lake Julia GIS Application?
The Lake Julia Web Application is an interactive web-based tool that utilizes publicly available data layers such as parcel boundaries, hydrology data, lake bathymetric data, and elevation/ground slope information for our Lake owners to investigate. Paired with this publicly available data is the resident and cabin information, designed to only be viewed by Lake Julia residents.

So what can you do with this information?
Below are some screenshots of examples of what users can perform with the application. As existing resident data becomes more refined and newer public data comes available, the more accurate these assessments will be.
