About the Association

In 2004, the informal summer gathering of lake property owners was organized into the Lake Julia Association, Inc., a Wisconsin  Non-Stock Corporation, under articles and bylaws drafted by Atty. Thomas J. Drought.  The corporation is comprised of "members",  loosely defined as "persons owning property of residing in homes located on the shoreline of Lake Julia ...  and other persons supporting the general purposes of the Corporation." 

The Annual Meeting of Members, for the election of Directors and any other business, is held on a weekend day shortly before of after the 4th of July, in order to encourage attendance by the largest possible number of persons. 

The Members  elect a governing Board of Directors comprised of six persons for terms of three years.  In practice, two new directors have been elected each year. 

The Board meets periodically by videoconference.  The required annual meeting of Directors (for election of officers and other business) is usually held in person  , on the same day as the Annual Meeting of Members, required by the bylaws to be held in July or August.  These meetings are typically held around the Fourth of July.  

The 2004 corporate organizing documents  have not been amended since their inception.   Any provision of the bylaws may be amended by a 2/3 votre of the Membership.
