The "house map" has been publish episodically since 2002. There are now 49 identified "houses" around the 6.4 miles of lake shoreline, or about one house per 700 linear feet of shoreline. The houses are numbered from #1 to #49, beginning at the "public" boat landing. House numbers are also used elsewhere in this website to identify structures and families. House color groups identify the access roads used by each group; for example, the Lake Julia Road/Julia Creek Road group is Yellow.
At the east end of the lake, one site (#17) has appeared to be under construction for some seasons. Thereare no known plans for additional houses.
Yes, the map is hard to read on this webpage. Click HERE to download a larger .pdf file, where you can zoom in to see details. The pdf is sized at 18" x 24" and will print clearly up to at least that size.
The State of Wisconsin prepared a "bathymetric" map of the lakebed as of 1975; this is reproduced below. and can be downloaded HERE.
From the state map, we have created the simpler map immediately below, showing the more treacherous rock beds and shallow areas. Has anything changed in 45 years? Not to our observation. As of 2020, the unprecedentedly high level of lake waters means that shallow areas are not quite so shallow. Presumably, "normal" levels will return as some point.
You can download a pdf version of this map HERE. Like the House Map above, this 2.3 MB document is sized at 18" x 24" and will print well up to at least that size.
Scott Schlueter is developing a GIS application capable of conveying many layers of both natural and man-made information about Lake Julia. See an explanation of this, and links to the GIS materials, on the following page.
